It is very natural for dogs to be shy with new people as like as afraid of strangers and specific objects. During the development , they will learn this during Dog socialization training which encourage your dog to get mingle with the people you prefer them to be. It’s not the serious problem until that impacts your lifestyle. Some dogs find difficulties even after the socialization training .Shy dogs often bolt when frightened, endangering themselves by running blindly into danger, such as traffic.
Let them to be Shy
What will you do when your is afraid or shy? Most of us end up talking soothingly , petting or even will pick them up and hugging , which means we are trying to avoid these kind of situation temporarily. Your dog will feel that he can get your reward when they feels and acts as they frightened or afraid. Be careful not to reinforce your dog’s fearfulness by offering reassurance. It is best to ignore completely when your dog acts fearful. Let him handle the situation rather than getting placed on your lap. This training will make him that there is nothing to be fearful. Save your praise and reassurance for times when your dog acts with confidence.
Shyness, Fear and Socialization
Many people try to rehabilitate their dog too quickly , forcing him to socialize with other dogs and people. This actually reinforces your dog that other people and dogs are frightening. Well balanced manner is very important on such a situation. One hand your dog needs to learn his socialization training as soon as quickly , on other hand he should not be forced in to it.If you force your dog in to this. they will become more fearful. Socializing your dog and helping him to build a confidence is a time consuming task. Allowing him in the arms of every people can be counter productive. Strangers should never be allowed to pet your dog .It should always be left to your dog to make the first contact. If your dog does not want to approach that’s OK. Let him have a plenty of chances and time to ‘Hide and Peek’ and eventually he will come out of hiding. It’s your choice to let your dog socialize but also it’s up to your dog to proceed at it’s own pace. Don’t encourage him verbally to come out of hiding. He may assume that your rewarding him and getting this as a price for hiding. Also do not force him to come out , which will make him fearful even more
Fearful Snapping, Growling and Aggression
Fearful dogs can be unpredictable . They can react defensively when approached by strangers and unfamiliar people. They may try to keep away strangers by growling, snarling and snapping. You should not be careless on this. No dog should be allowed to get away with acting aggressively towards humans. Your dog is she is no excuse for condone biting or growling.You must instantly and effectively reprimand such behavior. Praise your dog as soon as it stops acting aggressively. It’s a good practice at such a situation but it’s better to avoid threatening situations until your dog has developed enough confidence to deal with them without aggression. Do not allow strangers to reprimand your fearful or shy dog.
